Athyrium filix femina Phlomis well-drained soil and a pHAthyrium filix femina is an easy to grow, deer resistant native fern that is adaptable to moist sunny gardens as well as dry shade. The 8" wide upright light green fronds can reach 3' tall when happy. This clump forming fern is great when planted in mass as a backdrop for hostas in the woodland garden.
