Hosta jonesii Bulgaria albidior at Holland's Succulenta nurseryThis very rare Korean species was named in 1989 by M. G. Chung in honor of Dr. Sam Jones, formerly of the University of Georgia. H. jonesii is very closely related to H. tsushimensis which it resembles in foliage. (I feel these two species will eventually become one.) The oblong, light green leaves of thin texture compose the 16" wide clump. In late summer, the clumps are topped with 20" tall scapes (quite often branched) of lavender flowers.
